This month we are introducing you to our engineering apprentice, Corey Kempster! Learn a bit more about Corey below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Name:<\/strong><\/strong> Corey Kempster<\/p>\n\n\n\n Apprenticeship:<\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0FdEng Mechatronic Engineering Higher Level Apprenticeship (UU Affiliated)<\/p>\n\n\n\n College:<\/strong><\/strong> Southeastern Regional College in Bangor<\/p>\n\n\n\n What is your role within Donite Plastics?<\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0Engineering Apprentice\/Trainee<\/p>\n\n\n\n How long have you been with the company?<\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0I joined Donite Plastics in August of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What does a typical day look like for you?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>First thing I do every morning is scan over my to do list for the day. This allows me to prep for the day and allocate time to complete my tasks. If I ever get stuck or I\u2019m unsure about anything I\u2019m doing, I often go to my team lead so I can be allocated and helped with workloads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What benefits are you getting from your training with Donite Plastics?<\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0A lot of my work is similar to my work in college; this has made it a lot easier for me when it comes to assignments or tests as I feel I have a bit of an advantage due to the practical knowledge I\u2019ve gained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What has been a highlight for you throughout your time at Donite Plastics?<\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0Everyone at Donite is very approachable and easy to talk too which makes learning a lot easier. If I\u2019m stuck on something I don\u2019t feel pressured or panicked into asking someone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n How will your experience with Donite Plastics benefit you in your future career?<\/strong><\/strong> It\u2019s helped me build the confidence to work in any engineering setting, because the experience I\u2019ve gained will be useful no matter where I go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What are your career aspirations? Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?<\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0In 5 years\u2019, time I hope to be completing my bachelor\u2019s degree in Ulster University. It will be a 2 year top up degree after I finish this course which I hope to do this alongside working in Donite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What advice would you give someone thinking about undertaking an apprenticeship with Donite?<\/strong><\/strong>Find a healthy balance with work and studying as it can be intense.
